Show Up As You Are In This Moment

Last night I read this amazing article by Jamie Varon. It was seriously just the thing I needed to really get motivated. We always spend countless hours finding tips or tricks on how to be productive, how to get motivation, how to be creative but in all reality, we only will be motivated, inspired, or productive when we are. There is no special recipe force yourself to be a certain way, it will just happen when it happens.

Over the last month in our business, I have been a little stagnant. I have changed the name of our blog a million times never knowing what the hell I am doing. I'm always consuming everything there is to know. I am always expanding my knowledge about business and blogging and being an entrepreneur. It gets exhausting. There comes a point when you start to consume too many things and start feeling stuck in place.

In the last three years I have switched around so many times and sometimes it takes a bunch of failed attempts before you really figure out what it is that works. What ignites your interest for the longest amount of time?  When it comes to anything in life you have to just stick with something and follow through with what you say you will. This whole month of February I've been at a stand still. Unsure of what to talk about, being pulled in so many directions. I keep reading stuff about how your business should do things a certain way, your blog only should have actionable or helpful things to be successful.. It doesn't feel genuine to me, or anyone else for that matter. Last week I had an awesome opportunity to Skype with Sian Richardson and we talked about  how we're so sick of this shit. Where is the soul and heart and the real humans behind these internet facades? We want more than just to be consumers being sold to. We want a connection. "We want SOUL" as Sian said it. By the way, check her blog out she is probably the most realistic motivational human being ever!

"I want to make a connection with everyone who reads our blog, or follows along with our social media. I want to share our not so perfect life and business and be a real human being. I want to create stuff that is meaningful and makes you feel something."

So here I am now with our blog, more focused than ever and taking it a little slower. I am not forcing anything anymore just to get a blog post out. I am done with the "rules" of blogging. I'm here to share our stories and get to know you on a deeper level. That is what we do after all. I want to make a connection with everyone who reads our blog, or follows along with our social media. I want to share our not so perfect life and business and be a real human being. I want to create stuff that is meaningful and makes you feel something. It has taken me an entire website redesign, a shift in our business focus, a stagnant phase of being a little depressed about things, lots of conversations with our best business buddy Caitlin Brehm (who helped write our content and helps us constantly plan and come up with new ideas),  motivational talks with our friend Mansoor and a few outdoor adventures here and there to really feel like we are going somewhere with things. The new year is always a hard time for anyone, it's like there's an expectation of you to start all these new things right away and change your entire life in just a single day, but sometimes it takes months, or even years to see your labor come to fruition. Things take time, we're taking our time. So, I wanted to share a post from the heart today without tons of planning, and tons of steps, and free downloadables.. I want to be a real human on the internet and not hide behind perfect photos, sales pages, and tips. I hope you will enjoy our blog this way. While we do want to share some tips about photography, branding and video we want to keep this space more human! Hope you have a happy Tuesday everyone!

Let us know what you think, we would love to hear your feedback.
